    Romano Masetti has not yet come of age and already is foreman in the first glassworks company in Pesaro. At the end of the 1950’s, foreseeing the important increase in the use of glass in the furniture industry, he decides to start his own business, and in the 1960’s he establishes the VETRERIA MASETTI glassworks company.

    In the years of the Italian economic boom, Masetti Glass grows, carried up by the flourishing furniture industry of Pesaro province, and becomes supplier of the first historical furniture industries of Pesaro district

    (Urbinati, Balestrieri, Mercantini, Scavolini and others).
    Glass is mostly used in living room and bedroom furniture, as top element for dressers and tables, bevelled and engraved glass cabinets, mirrors.

    the 1970’s

    During the 1970’s Masetti Glass counts up to 120 employees, and has become one of the main producers of glass doors soldered with lead or tin, distinguishing itself for the quality of product and service.

    the production is diversified to the other types of glass processing, thus proposing to its customers a whole range of products, from decorations, engravings, bevelling on glasses and mirrors, and becoming a national leading company at the service of the main Italian furniture industries.

    This decade is characterized by the large-scale use of glasses and mirrors with straight and shaped engravings, a processing that was executed both manually and semi-automatically. It’s at this point that, from an idea of Romano Masetti.

    from the 70’s to the 80’s

    the 1980’s (continues)

    in cooperation with the engineering expert Mr Giancarlo Selci of Biesse, leading engineering company, the first ever CNC for the glass processing is conceived, planned, and realized. The prototype is realized inside the Masetti premises and in a short while the company buys three more machines and becomes the world’s first company executing numerically controlled engravings on glass. This marked a turning point in the evolution of the machines for the glass processing.

    During the second half of the 80’s, this machine is worldwide sold by the “Intermac” brand of the Biesse group, which was born a few months after the prototype.

    The genius of Romano Masetti will return at the end of the 80’s, when, always in the Masetti premises, the world’s first and unique robot is realized for the tin soldering of the soldered doors.

    The trends of furniture design and of serigraphies change, the decorations become processing widely used on glass, and once again Masetti understands the future tendencies and equip his production to meet the new market requests.

    Being among the first Italian companies to execute the glass toughening, the enamelling, the hot serigraphy with ceramic enamels becomes an excellence in the Masetti products range.
